IFSC Code Information for Indian Banks

What is IFSC Code?

IFSC code stands for Indian Financial System Code. It is a unique code used to identify individual bank branches in India during online money transfers. This code is required for digital payment systems such as NEFT, RTGS, and IMPS. Every branch of a bank has a separate IFSC code which helps banks route transactions correctly.

An IFSC code contains 11 characters. The first four letters represent the bank name, the fifth character is always zero, and the remaining six characters represent the specific bank branch. These codes are assigned for smooth and secure electronic banking transactions across India.

Today, IFSC codes are commonly used in internet banking, mobile banking, online bill payments, salary transfers, and many other digital banking services.
